President Mahinda Rajapakse has appointed Mahinda Balasuriya as the new Inspector General of Police yesterday.

Reports inform, Balasuriya replaces after Jayantha Wickramaratne who retired as IGP on last Saturday. The present appointee is Sri Lanka’s 32nd Inspector General of Police.
