President Mahinda Rajapakse had ordered that all the displaced people in the northern province will be resettled within the next three months period, and he had ordered to close down all the welfare centers. Accordingly about 20 thousand persons from the Vavuniya area, were today resettled is according to Government Information Department.

The report further states, the displaced people who were resettled in the areas of Vavuniya, Vavuniya north , Vavuniya South, Chettikulam divisional secretariat division including many areas, will be granted with all the necessary facilities under the “Northern future” working project. 29 schools are initiated for new construction in the Vavuniya district for which activities are processed.
